Here are all the cute Activity Day girls.
Some of the ladies in the ward got together for breakfast the last Saturday we were there. It was so much fun to socialize with them one last time.
Once the farewells were over, we had a lot of work to do. The members of the Elder's Quorum
came over the night before moving day to carry a bunch of boxes upstairs to the garage.
Here is the truck that we actually filled. I think we have too much stuff!
Jackson helped by cleaning this window over and over.
When mom decided Jackson had used too many paper towels, he didn't quite agree. Thats when we decided it was time for him to go play at his friend Lucy's house. (Thanks Megan for taking our kiddos. It helped so much so we could get everything done!)
The kids did an amazing job during our travels, considering we have a two year old who has just been potty trained, and a one year old who doesn't particularly love her car seat. We got off earlier than expected on Wednesday so the rest of the trip went faster than we thought. On Thursday we made a stop in Council Bluffs at the Kanesville Tabernacle. While we were on a tour of the building, Jackson jumped up on the stage and started dancing around. We didn't realize until it was too late that there was a reason for that dancing. Suddenly "something" started dripping from his shorts and Kevin and I quickly grabbed Jackson and whisked him away to the bathroom. We won't forget that tabernacle anytime soon, and we're sure the people there will remember us for a long time as well. What would a family trip be like with out a fun story to tell?
We also stopped at Winter Quarters and had a wonderful time there. Jackson and Kaitlyn got to pack a little covered wagon.
Then they dressed up. Kaitlyn was so cute. She just kept making us laughing.
And here is Jackson the little pioneer boy. Notice us in the background- yes it takes two of us to get Kaitlyn dressed. I was mostly just hunched over laugh though because she wasn't cooperating.
We decided to make the rest of the drive on Friday which meant 10 hours in the car. It made for a long day and we were glad when it was over. But the trip was very fun and it was even better with Kevin's parents driving with us (in our other car).
This is our little eater. She eats more than her brother most the time. She loves feeding herself and doesn't mind getting messy! She was enjoying some yogurt at Grandma and Grandpa Grossarth's house.
My handsome little guy.
We went to the Temple Square vistor's center and saw the new temple display with all of Kevin's family. We got everyone together for the first time since our wedding (4 yrs ago) so it was fun to spend time with them for a few days.
Since we've arrived we've moved in to the home we will be staying at while Kevin is in school, spent lots of time with both sides of our family and Kevin has been doing orientation. I can tell its going to be a very busy two years, but we are excited to start the adventure.
Now that we've arrived in BYU territory, Jackson's dreams have come true. Last Tuesday night we went to the Cougar Kickoff with the hopes of finding Cosmo. Jackson has a book all about Cosmo the Cougar and he just knew he would see Cosmo if he stepped foot on BYU campus. I didn't think Jackson would ever stop smiling once he laid eyes on his hero. There was a huge line, but of course we waited. When we got to the front and Cosmo picked Jackson up, it was hard to get a picture with Jackson looking at the camera. Then Jackson roared at Cosmo. He has been practicing that for a few months now (see video a few posts below). I'm pretty sure Cosmo will never be the same after that.
A huge THANK YOU to Kevin's parents for flying out to Wisconsin, helping us pack, load the truck, and clean the house and then drive one of our cars across the country! Then they were here to help us move in as well. Kevin's sister Shari also helped us unpack. My brothers and dad helped move the heavy stuff around and my mom was a huge help by watching the kids while we unloaded. We couldn't have done it without any of you!
