...passed away on April 16, 2011. Her funeral was the following Saturday, April 23, which happened to be the day before Easter. It was a very special time for our family. Grandma Payne suffered through a lot the last few years of her life, dispite her healthy lifestyle. She was always very independent and would come on most of our family trips, even if we were hiking or walking long distances. She was amazing. I thought the rest of us would die before she did. I learned so much from her, such as remembering to wipe down any public surface like a picnic table or bench before sitting down, also how to keep your hair dry even when going on Maid of the Mist at Niagra Falls (where most people leave soaking wet) and while on a raft going through rapids! Although I miss her immensly, I know she is much happier now that she is with her husband who died 36 years ago as well as her daughter and some grandchildren. Plus she is out of pain. Although funerals aren't really "fun" it was so nice to have ALL of Grandma's living children + spouses, grandchildren - my brother Tyson who is on an LDS mission, and many great-grandchildren! Here are some pictures from her funeral.

The ward was wonderful and made us lunch.
