The day after Thanksgiving, we were still in Riverton at Kevin's parent's home and the kids were getting ready to go to bed. They wanted a "horsie ride" so Kevin gave them a ride. They fell off on purpose, but Kaitlyn hit the door frame and I was waiting for her to scream and hold her head. Instead, she got real quiet and held onto her arm. She said she just wanted to sleep in our bed and told us to leave as soon as we tucked her in (very unusual for her as she can be pretty hard to get to bed.) We figured it was her funny bone since she wasn't crying much. But the next morning she woke up still holding her arm and wouldn't let me take her pajama shirt off. We were planning on going home that morning anyway, and decided we'd better head straight to the BYU health center Urgent Care. It was hard to tell by the X-Rays, but the Dr. thought she had a hairline fracture in her elbow and so they put a splint on her arm, basically made out of the same material as a cast, but just wrapped it up with an ace bandage and it could be taken off. The whole visit was tough because Kaitlyn is scared to even step on the scale, so x-rays were not fun, and she screamed every time the Dr. walked into the room, but as they put the splint on she instantly calmed down.

To cheer her up, we stopped to see this Mater truck parked at a Christmas Tree lot near our house.
Then we went to see Santa, but Kaitlyn still would have nothing to do with him.
Kaitlyn adapted well to using one arm. It definitely didn't slow her down! We got really lucky and the Dr. took the splint off two weeks after getting it on because he couldn't see a break anywhere on the x-rays they took. Kaitlyn didn't know what to do without something on her arm, but it is nice not to have to worry about it now. I sure hope that is the only time any of my kids has to wear a cast!!!
