Proud Mom
Is there anyone else out there who feels like all they do is try and get their kids to eat- nutritious food? Jackson has refused to drink whole milk so I'm always thinking up ways to sneak it in. He also refuses vegetables of any kind. He is very good at picking them out of dishes that he loves. What a stinker. Another thing that just drives me crazy is he will only drink water out of a sippy cup. No juice, nothing else! Well, the other day I was feeding him yogurt, but that takes a lot of time since he can't quite feed himself with a spoon yet, so I stand there for 10 minutes. I usually put some whole milk in with the yogurt, but I had put way too much, so it was very runny. I finally got the bright idea to put it in his sippy cup. He wouldn't drink it. But then last night and today I did the same thing, and he drank that strawberry smoothie right up. I was so proud. Then for lunch I made some alfredo pasta and mixed finely chopped brocoli in there...and he ate it! WAhooo. I'm the happiest mom. Thanks Jackson.

Oh my word, pasta and broccoli in a sippy cup? No wonder he will only drink water..... I know it may be a mess but see if you can find a cup with a straw in it. That's what did the trick with my grandson. I think they were at baby's R us.
oh dear, did it sound like I put the pasta and broccoli in the sippy cup? Yeah that would be really nasty. No, he just aate the pasta and broccoli as a dish. Only the yogurt and milk went in the sippy.
Yay for Jackson! Jilly refused whole milk for the longest time too. It was crazy- she'd drink it out of a bottle, but once the bottle went away she refused it from a sippy cup for months. Crazy toddlers!
You are so funny! I loved his suit vest and tie he was wearing on Sunday!
Good Job! If there was only a way to get carrots into a sippy!
It's amazing how exciting things like that become. We're doing the same thing with Benson-- we clap and cheer whenever he eats new stuff without spitting it out!
Your Jackson cannot possibly be pickier than my Jaxson. I just LOVE those days of food success. Crazy how happy it makes us :) I think I already told you this, but my Jaxson wouldn't drink milk in a bottle or sippy cup and would only drink water as well. I watered down his milk so it tasted just like water and gradually increased the milk a little bit every few days. It took several weeks or even a month, but he never objected to my nasty mixture and now it is just milk and he loves it. If the yogurt smoothie doesn't work out give that a shot. It sounds gross, but if you are like me as a desperate mom you will try anything!!!!!
Don't get too excited about Jackson learning to unbuckle his car seat. Once he learns it, he will be doing it while you are driving. Rachel had the same problem with her kids. He sure is a cute little guy Jeanne.
