Snow, Snow, and MORE SNOW!!!

The day the kids and I left Utah to fly to Wisconsin a huge storm started in Utah and spread east and hit Wisconsin. Everyone thought we would be ahead of the storm so I boarded the plane in UT and we landed in Denver. I was worried because we landed around 2:45 PM and my next flight left at 3! (Keep in mind that I was traveling with a two year old and a 5 month old!) But as soon as I turned my phone on it rang and it was Kevin. He assured me that my next flight was delayed 10 minutes and it was really close by. Sure enough he was right and I even had time to go to the bathroom. Then I hurried back to the gate, only to discover that our flight was delayed until 5:30, which meant we would miss our connecting flight from Minneapolis to Green Bay, WI. I was totally freaked out, wondering what we would do. I got in a huge line where they were rescheduling passengers and the only option I had was to wait until 7:30 and fly straight to Appleton, WI, but they warned me that that flight would probably be delayed or canceled. Well, after waiting for what seemed like forever we actually boarded that flight. Then they warned us all that if the pilots couldn't land in Appleton, they would have to go to the Chicago airport. I was so worried for the entire 2 1/2 hour flight. Jackson hadn't taken a nap and Kaitlyn had only slept for about an hour all day long. A kind lady offered to feed Kaitlyn and hold her while she slept. That was so nice because Jackson was having some meltdowns and needed my full attention. But then the flight attendant came and said that there weren't 3 oxygen masks in the kind lady's row and so she would have to give Kaitlyn back to me. I wanted to cry and explain to this attendant what my day had been like and how exhausted I was, but instead I took Kaitlyn from the lady. She woke up and started screaming. The rest of the flight was hard and long, but finally the pilot got on and let us know that we would be landing in Appleton! I've never been so happy to get off of an airplane. It was wonderful to give Kevin a hug and get in our warm van! One of our suitcases got lost in the process, but I didn't really care. (They delivered it later that week) I'm just so glad we didn't have to spend the night in Chicago! I know we were watched over through out our whole trip. Every time I felt like crying I was comforted and felt the hand of the Lord as I went through the day. It is so neat to know that in this big world, where it is so easy to get lost, we are always found by our Savior. He knows us so well and wants us to be safe.

The next day Kevin got up and tried to go to work. He barely made it out of our driveway and got stuck in the street. A snowplow had to dig him out. This is what our drive way looked like after Kevin shoveled for about 3 hours! There is also a video below that shows how much snow we got and how windy it was! Usually work and school isn't canceled here, but that day it was!

Our back yard.

We got Jackson a little shovel to help out his daddy!

Super cute!

Had to take a picture of the kids in their snow gear. They were both sweating because they were so warm, but then we tried to go out and play in the snow. It was in the single digits that day and unbelievably COLD! I really can't describe the cold here. Its the kind that you have to be completely covered or you seriously feel like the uncovered skin will fall off. It requires bundling up from head to toe just to walk out and get the mail. Brrrrrrrrrr!

Kaitlyn is five months here and so giggly and talkative!

I LOVE this video. Every mother's dream...

Once again, brrrrrrr.

So are you missing Seattle? We drove to SLC for Christmas. The roads were bare and some fog so it was nice. Glad you made it home. Where did you spend Christmas?

Oh man... We've been gone from WI for November and December, and we're getting so nervous to head back on Sunday! We've been following the weather reports, and it looks like WI got hammered several times in a row. YIKES! I always have to remind myself in the winter why we decided to move to Milwaukee.

That is awful about the plane trip!!!! That is SO stressful to be by yourself with 2 kids that are tired and need your attention. I'm so glad the plane could land in appleton. CRAZY!!! I feel for you.

That is lots of snow. yikes. Preston played in the snow for 2 seconds and didn't like it. Kate loved it and made a million snow angels. Hope you are staying nice and warm inside. :)

Holy cow! You are a brave, brave woman to fly alone like that. I applaud you. I am such a California girl and think I would just die in that weather. Lots of new experiences for you this year, huh? Love the videos of your cute kids!

I just watched your neighbor plowing in front of his house. Is he a nice neighbor and do all of your road? If not, bake him something and take it to him and maybe he'll feel quilty and take care of all of you. (hehehe)

Our neighbors are an elderly couple and they hire a guy to come plow their driveway. Kevin is tempted to bribe him to come do ours as well if we have another blizzard with 14 inches of snow!
